COMMERCIAL PILOT LICENSE (CPL)
The commercial pilot license allows for the opportunity to be compensated. It is the entry-level certification required for someone to work as a pilot.
Requirements (as per Part 61,123)
- Ability to read, write and speak English
- Must hold at least a Private Pilot certificate
- Age 18 or older to obtain a commercial certificate
Flight Experience (as per Part 61,129)
- 150 Hours logged
- 100 Hours in a powered aircraft (50 Hours helicopter)
- 100 Hours Pilot in Command (35 Hours helicopters and 10 Hours cross-country helicopter)
- 20 Hours of dual flight time with an instructor including:
- 5 Hours actual or simulated instrument flying (IFR)
- One 2 Hour cross-country flight in a helicopter day time of more than 50NM (straight line distance)
- One 2 Hour cross-country flight in a helicopter night time of more than 50NM (straight line distance)
- 3 Hours in preparation for the practical test within two months prior to the test date
- 10 Hours of solo flight OR dual flight time with an instructor including:
- A cross-country flight with 3 landings, with a segment of 50 NM (straight line distance)
- 5 Hours night flying in VFR conditions with 10 take-offs and 10 landings (including flight in a traffic pattern)
- Pass FAA written examination
- Pass FAA check ride
Cost
The overall cost of obtaining a certificate will vary depending on the number of hours to meet the commercial certificate requirements. The rates are the same per hours as broken down for the private pilot certificate.
Note: We offer training in either the R22BII or R44 RII helicopters
